Apple and Nvidia have similar approaches to closed ecosystems, because they ultimately have very similar corporate cultures.

We've seen this in every other industry and I'm not seeing tech being any different. it's why despite seeing all those Right to repair legislations pass (pretty lax ones imo) in EU and some states we've already seen companies try to comply only "technically". Apple did use NVIDIA GPUs in some MacBooks even years after bumpgate. Mid 2014 15" MacBook Pro was the last one to have a NVIDIA GPU (GT 750M)

It's ironic that Apple and Nvidia won't work together at all anymore, as doesn't Nvidia own ARM?
ARM is the basis for all of Apple's SoCs, in the Mac, iPad, iPhone and other devices, so you'd think Apple would be more inclined to work with Nvidia now.

I've used nVidia graphics cards since the early 00's, and as far as I can remember they've always been like this.
They make a damn good product, but man are they weirdly anti-consumer with locked down devices.
That nVidia Shield though was a masterpiece.

I was under the impression that NVIDIA refused to give Apple the source code needed when Apple was working on their Metal Framework to optimize it. AMD had no issues doing that so Apple went with AMD GPUs.
