The F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team performs precision aerial maneuvers at airshows across the world to demonstrate the unique capabilities of the world's premier 5th generation fighter aircraft. The team also performs with the Air Force Heritage Flight Foundation to showcase modern day fighter jets flying in formation with World War II, Korean, and Vietnam era aircraft.

The team is stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia. In March 2007, the team participated in its debut air show at Tyndall Air Force Base. Since then, the team has performed more than 250 demonstrations across the world.

I saw the F22 fly at an airshow at the Chino airport in SoCal. It was jaw dropping. I like airshows, and have seen many military aircraft perform great shows, like the Blue Angels. But the F22 is in a class by itself. It performed maneuvers that looked like it broke all the laws of physics. It headed streight up in a slow climb, slowed, and then came to a complete halt in an absolutely vertical position, and hung motionless for over a minute. Like it was hanging on a string. All kinds of small thrusters and control surfaces were in constant jittering motion to keep it there. It had to be computer controlled, no man can operate a dozen controls at once. It then slowly rotated on its axis, and gracefully flew off. I know the cobra maneuver, this was utterly different. It performed other maneuvers that should be impossible, like tiny loops in super slow motion. Like slowly tumbling end over end. It should have fallen out of the sky, but it was always in perfect control. It made me proud to be an American.

Was putting along in a DA-40 one time and two F-16s crossed my path in front of me and an F-22 behind. I absolutely made a loop to watch the Raptor fly by. Such a beautiful plane.
