Watch as an F-15e chasing the F-22 Raptor!
26th April saw the US Air Force’s stealth fighter, the F22 ‘Raptor’ visit the Machynlleth loop in North Wales for the very first time!
In North Wales there’s a famous U.K. military air training range — technically, Low Flying Area 7 — part of it is known as the Machynlleth Loop.
And now there’s a new guest star—a USAF F-22 Raptor stealth fighter from the 95th Fighter Squadron based at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. The 95th Fighter Squadron sent four F-22s to Europe in April as part of the Pentagon’s effort to bolster NATO defenses amid increased tensions with Russia. F-22s deployed to Europe for the first time in late 2015.

F-22: I am speed, efficiency, elegance, precision...
F-15E: I SMASH STUFF!

Damn this is what zoom lenses were made for. Not pictures of my neighbour's cat.

The F-15 at 58 seconds is absolutely beautiful. Decades later and it is still one of the most aesthetically pleasing planes ever made.

That F-15 is like an old school muscle car compared to the newer fighter jets. Classic machine beauty.

100 years ago and this is literally alien technology. The jets, the camera, youtube. the whole thing.

Ah yes, this is the place where the Wild Planes roam free of human interaction.
It's a beautiful thing to see them in their natural habitat!

I like how the F-15 at the end is just lurking like: “104-0 bro, what are you?”

I’ve seen them a few times here in America at air shows and it’s always insane. I’ll never forget the first time I saw one take off if afterburner right into a max performance climb followed by one of those crazy maneuvers only jets with thrust vectoring can pull off. It’s almost scary the first time you see it because it looks so unnatural for a high performance jet to come to an almost full stop in the air and then change directions. You think it just stalled and is about to burn in but then it just drops the nose and it’s off again. Bad ass.

Every time I see one doing a vectored thrust turn, I somehow feel mildly at angry at F-22’s for breaking my perceived laws of physics. :)

When a younger man we'd go up to the high desert, camp out and watch the F-14s dance off in the distance. Thanks for the memories.

There's (at least) one other ground-hugging route I learned of in Scotland. I was touring by train and someone in my coach mentioned that the RAF practiced low flying in the area. Backing him up on that a few minutes later, two Tornadoes came screaming through the valley a a couple of minutes apart. The noise was unbelievable, and just filled the train with the roar of their engines for a few moments.

Cameraman: "He tore past me at mach speed!"
F22 Pilot: "I let off the thrust and glided past a cameraman"

Thank you. Brings back fond memories of my NAVY time 85/96 and working with F-14 Tomcat jets during Radar Tracking ops in the IO. When they pass you at 500MPH you remember that Forever. And you Feel it in your whole body straight down to your feet.

That is awesome! I'm a Marine. When I was on active duty I used to sit and marvel at the F-18s that would fly low and fast over us. So jealous, I wished so bad that I had the eyesight for that. Being a fighter pilot is still the best job I can imagine. You fly the fastest aircrafts around and your job is literally to blow things up. What could be better than that?

I was in the air force 2014-2020 and I was SF my job was to provide security for these beauties. Sometime I would just stare at them for hours. Such elegant machines.

Ex F-15 mechanic. Love seeing both of these remarkable aircraft. Miss my days on the flightline maintaining one of the most beautiful aircraft ever flown.

30 years later and it remains the greatest fighter ever built.
