I have been an engineer for almost 10 years and a tutor for about 15 years. They do an absolutely horrible job at teaching this in school without any context whatsoever...take this number and follow this process. Almost all of my students give up on math when they get to this concept.

I have a test tomorrow and this really helped, but the one question I still have is the reason why high school kids like me are required to learn something that I will never use again, especially since I hate math with a passion. But maybe that's just me.

Hi! Is this a right endpoint approximation? I'm really confused. Could you please tell me how the formula would be different for left endpoint, right end point or midpoint approximation. I've understood how to do the problem but I'm not sure what would be different if I was asked to do midpoint or sth else. Thank you!
