I totally think families should be compensated for being denied GI Bill benefits.

I fail to understand why other oppressed people; Native, Asian, Women, etc., in America should pay for reparations for one oppressed group.

Calling revisionist history fact is like calling Trevor a journalist.

The greatest gift the U.S. government could ever bestow on white America is paying reparations to ADOS. For that reason I 100% support it.

if the idea of the 1619 project is real, then shouldn't the europeans pay the reparations? How can a country that didn't exist be responsible?

UBI, not reparations. Let's look beyond the history and try to fix tomorrow's wrongs too.

You don't get to benefit off of your ancestors sufferings just like you shouldn't have to pay for your ancestors crimes.

If what we were talking about was history, we wouldn't be using the name of a political belief system to refer to it.

The 1619 should not be taught at all .I think history should be taught truth.not lies.

Where does all the people that died in the civil war fit into this.

Right idea, bad execution. What we need to put money into is not reparation, but into programs to increase the quality of life for minorities and educational programs to reduce racism.

Free money for something that didn't happen to you. That's a deal I wish I could have.

Thank you for sharing this great conversation. I agree with Nikole Hannah-Jones 💯 about reparations for slavery.

Well if that's the case let's just give the whole country back to the American Indians it was theirs and we took it paying reparations is ignorant .

I as a Spanish American don’t want to pay for wars, guns, bombs anyhow I want to help the environment by planting trees, eating healthier which I been doing for the past 5 years now, to help children which I been donating to Save The Children, to save the animals, less chemicals and more community productivity☀️🌱🧘🏽‍♀️

Forcing the innocent to pay nonvictims for something that happened to neither of them is not reparations.

Excellent!!! Love the defense on actually reading the book. A brother was arguing w/ me on FB, simply by my comment that I was reading the book & started attacking it. Once we went back & forth, a point he brought up claiming she did not address other forms of slavery & injustice in America to Indians & Asia Americans, I laughed & pointed out he had never read the book bc specific chapters (4 & 5) pointed his issue out. Hilarious!! But, so many argue a point without a valid defense from lack of concrete information. That’s how all this misinformation gets started. Enjoying the book. Almost finished.
