You've only noticed very rare case of a player saying he wants to stay somewhere and ending up signing somewhere else? Really? Don't get me wrong, I'd be surprised if Malkin didn't end up signing with Pittsburgh (Although the obvious second most likely place would likely be again I can always imagine some shady franchise like Carolina somehow managing to come out of nowhere)

Rakell scored 30 goals playing center for Ducks, Dejan I'm just saying.Want Malkin to stay they have been fair in offer .He has been highest paid on Pens for yrs.has never been best player Sid always has been.And he is NOT as good as Sid or Letang now....

Not a fan of this signing, not for anything over an aav of 4. I just wish they would have been patient to see what Kadri and/or Troschek are going to do before committing that cap amount.

If we can’t get anyone of value as a line 2 center, or if we have to move Carter to line 2, the Rakell signing will be a bad look when his production tanks.

Let Malkin walk and sign Vincent Trocheck.
He's a much better 5 on 5 player, he can kill penalties, he'll be slightly cheaper than Geno, he's 8 years younger, he's from Pittsburgh so he might want to come here, and no one... NO ONE plays good with Malkin at this point. Even in 16 and 17, the 3rd line was the better line. (Although Malkin did play pretty well)
Their second line is weak because Malkin is a weak 5 on 5 player.
That's not going to get better in the next 3 years.
Let him GO.

Keeping Crosby into his elder years makes all the sense in the world. Same with Letang, especially because there weren't any better options.
You gotta move on from SOME age though, and Malkin makes the most sense. I love the guy, and wish he could stay forever, but he's not that valuable to this team right now imo.

Man if Malkin really is leaving, it will be the dumbest decision the pens have made in a long time. Even worse than the infamous Jack Johnson contract

Rakell feels like another Brassard/Perron situation where he just does not fit with the team. I don't love this move

DK in the event they lose Malkin. I would move Kapanen into the center position. I don't care how ridiculous that sounds.😂
