15.4.3 Predict the effect of a change in temperature on the spontaneity of a reaction using standard entropy and enthalpy changes and the equation of delta G.

The universe likes hot and messy reaction, but cold and tidy reactions never happen. Hot and tidy OR cold and messy are temperature dependent.

Note: Dr Atkinson is killed in hell and revived in endo land -- but you gotta look closely.

delta G = deltaH - T delta S

When delta G =0 the the reaction is just about to start (or stop!).
We would then have to give you 2 of the variables and you would need to find the 3rd.

Hi, thanks so much for these videos, biggest lifesaver!
My text book says that:
at low temp - deltaG =(approx) deltaHsys
at high temp - deltaG =(approx) -TdeltaSsys

is this correct, and should I be using these formulas? or should I always use the original one?

Try putting actual numbers into the equation, but simple ones such as +1, -2 etc

Why does delta G decrease in the first example as temperature rises, but increase in the second example as temperature rises?

Mr. Thornley, at 02:38 does the reaction always start at 840K with regards to Gibbs free energy and spontaneity or was this specific for this reaction? P.S. sorry if its a stupid questionn
