The Lain 25th Anniversary isn't going great

I think the real 25th anniversary that we got was Cyberia in VR chat that was put on by a few fans and groups and even live streamed the entire thing that was so cool to see all the fan creations and music mash ups. Also Bôa came out of retirement did a live action music video for the Lain Theme Song and released a new album and I think that is pretty cool.

TBF, i would pay 35 dolleriedoos for a Lain 25th standee.
The NFT component doesn't really motivate me one way or the other in the making of that decision.

i would love to see a new Lain figure for the 25th Anniversary. The old ones are so damn expencive. Still hope Goodsmile Company would do a figure of her in the future, or even better, making a Yoshitoshi Abe Collection with the main characters from every show or something.

I feel like he seems to have very inncoent intentions of what he was trying to make but with how look down upon Ai art stuff and NFT's are its bit of a let down.

I haven't check in the fandom for some time now and to see this happen for the anniversary feels such a let down. I feel like it goes against everything that anime was trying to say, and even Lain would probably be against all in some way.

Idk I hope some fans can join together to make something better. I really love this anime and it means a lot to me it change the way I wrote stories and even if I didn't understand everything that was happening in the anime, it touch me in a way that felt so personal and different to what I seen before, so dispite everything its still my favourite anime regardless of what has happen now.

The overall vibe I get is that the staff involved with Lain isn't so terminally online that they'd necessary even know about the stigma that stuff like NFT's and randomly AI generated content nowadays has, so they seem just legitimately curious about these new things that they couldn't really even conceive when the series was airing. That's not to say I'm strictly speaking defending something as silly as Lain NFT's (or Haibane underwear, wtf was that??), but I have hard time seeing this through any cynical lens.
