iPhone 15 Pro - ULTIMATE Action Button Customization Guide! | Custom Shortcuts for iPhone 15 Pro Action Button

The iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max come with an Action Button instead of the traditional mute switch. And while you can set it to perform basic tasks like open the camera, turn on the flashlight, etc...those are boring and don't really save you much time.

So in this video, we're going to guide you through setting up Shortcuts to use with the Action Button. These can be anything as simple as opening Notes or Reminders, or as complex as running different actions based on the device orientation and focus mode. Enjoy!

Apple will definitely add more feature to the action button. This is just the basics and start. Single tap, double tab, triple tap, sustained tap.. etc

I combined “Device Orientation” with the Action Button Menu.
Device Orientation portrait/faceUp = Action Button Menu.
LandscapeRight = take a picture
LandscapeLeft = to make a video
faceDown = focus on sleeping
Depending on the orientation, the Action Button does something different, brilliant.

I think the change to allowing all automations to run with out needing confirmation is truly the biggest game changer now allowing me to choose when focus modes turn on and off and making the button do something different depending on the focus in on is insane

If you put location info in to automation to turn on certain focus mode and use the focus triggered action button WOW. Imagine you enter your office action button works as a silent button, when you come home it works as a garage door opener, when you are at walmart action button opens the trunk unlimited option only limited by our imagination

This was so awesome!!! Thanks for creating the action button menu, I combined that with focus specific modes so that the menu comes up when my phone is in a focus but still retains the mute toggle when it isn't in a focus mode! It's nice to utilize the button and not just have it for a basic function

Needless to say, the power of the Action Button is actually the Power of Shortcuts. ...and shortcuts are very easy to call out using Siri.
That said, the Action Button is still a very good and comfortable addition and there are very good ideas in this video, including those that allow for different options from the use of the button.

Also, a suggestion for you ChatGpt portion, you could add a dictate text portion and pass that as input so you can skip needing to tap the dictation button too

I can’t get the action menu to work on my 14 pro :(. It just opens the folder in the app. Not a pop up menu..

Awesome explanation and video! What I will do is, if it’s horizontal left video, horizontal right photo, when in portrait mode and no focus in use than the shortcut folder aka control center 2.0 and then of course for each focus mode separate action. Let’s see if this works.. thanks for the inspiration!

Thats pretty Amazing. Firstly i thought the Action button is only specified to do certain task but after watching this video i am glad that the Action button can do multiple tasks and that makes me more addicted to 15Promax as I am using Xsmax and was thinking to buy 14Promax but now 15Promax is in my wish list

11:07 For the action menus, one way I figured was to “Get Battery Status” and set it to “if Battery is greater than 0” and the rest is the same instead of the “Get Current Focus” so you can always use the action button.
