The six generations of iMac G3 are hard to keep straight, but taught Apple some valuable lessons in how to market its products to customers.

Mike, very concise. As a Fruit Stand employee, I lived thru selling some of these as the stores opened in 2001. It was a great time to join the company, but challenging when it came to keeping track of colors and models. We once had the Dalmatian iMacs as our Point-of Sale cash registers!

I have the Flower Power and the Blue Dalmation iMacs. The effect on the cases is achieved by painting the inside of the case. You can literally scrape the effect off. Its not molded into the plastic. I love em :)

I'm not old enough to have experienced those colorful iMacs, but I do miss the colorfu iPod nanos.

1:03 the slot loading models should have the sleeker side profile shared with the later clear models, but with matte plastic. Great video none the less! Thank you!

I really wish Apple would do that flower power design once again. Never have I seen such a pretty apple product like that

Imagine how great a Grape Clamshell iBook would have looked😍

I think prior to the iMac in the late 80's, Apple produced a range of five analogue watches that came in the same colours as the 1999 line of iMac's:
Grape/purple
Blueberry/blue
Tangerine/orange
Strawberry/pink
Lime/green

They're cool looking watches & wish I had the opportunity of owning/wearing/trying those watches out. Plus they look very contemporary in design. Despite their release date, I could imagine them being sold & worn today.

Furthermore (yes this is long-winded), they could have done the same style of watch but with the indigo, ruby, sage, snow, Dalmatian blue, flower power (with an apricot coloured lens) and graphite. And the original Bondi Blue colour too.

I've got a tray loading Grape G3 and it's still rocking after all these years. Got it free when a local business was getting rid of all it's old tech. Had to go on Ebay to get a keyboard and mouse but $20 for a fully working iMac isn't bad. It's rocking OS 9.2, Classilla, Python 2.3 and some other slightly more modern apps. Not a bad little machine given it's age. You definitely wouldn't want it for your daily driver these days, but it will get you around on the Internet in a pinch.

The gorgeous tangerine iMac changed my life. Just bought it because of the color and realized one year later that it has FireWire (RIP) and that I can edit videos on it. So I did and earned my living as a filmmaker for more than a decade. Thanks Apple!

By the time these first came out, I already needed a minitower for my work. Which was a shame, because I never stopped wanting that first Bondi Blue G3.

All of these have hidden beige, it’s the inner bezel that supports the monitor. It happens to be the Achilles heel of these as they are very brittle after 20 years. Soon it will be impossible to ship as they crumble easily without much force.

The 2000 iMac lineup reminds me of the modern iPhone lineup.

Thanks Pixelman. I got 7 G3 i-macs. Seven. Now I know who the alpha female is. My Snow. But I like my OS 8.5 233mhz for its simplicity and the great screen savers (Afterdark, anybody?). For older games its a more than sufficient. Starforce flawlessly? Absolutely. In fact OS9/8 is preferable to OSX as there are TONS of games. Got every MAC World CD. Justabout. For a tenner. Result.
I am a PC man. Still am. But the G3s have personality. And guys, CRT is superior to flat screens. Not convinced? Well play Doom 3 (on my G5 POWERMAC Dual 2GHZ) on my Apple Trinitron CRT and the colors are SO richer and makes the game creepier and more absorbing. Mr Pixels, you should do this in a PDF format as then I could walk around while cataloging my collection. I am a bear of little brain and therefore short on memory.Like Apple products. Oh, most of these cost £20 to £30. Some came in original boxes complete with all accessories. Whats not to like? Yeah, nothing.

And now the M1 iMac revives the colors.

White iMac G3 stayed until March 2003?
Wow people had three choices for an All in One desktop.
iMac G3 Snow, iMac G4 and a between Mac which is the eMac sharing the resources of the CRT G3 Snow and a G4 processor.

This video is super cool. I definitely think Safire or Sage is my favorite color. I would love a MacBook Pro with this much personality
