iMac Anniversary: Looking back, Apple launches the iMac G3

On May 6, 1998, Steve Jobs unveiled the iMac G3. The bright blue, translucent, egg-shaped computer would mark the official comeback for Jobs and Apple. Happy anniversary iMac!

Still got my iMac G3 boxed up in the attic.
Was my crossover point from the self build world of PCs. Loved it, but never could get on with that weird mouse.
But to its credit, my iMac G3 was still working when last checked (albeit a couple of years ago) !

Sometimes I wonder if the iMac came out 3 or 4 years earlier before Windows 95, we would all be using Macs right now. Or at the very least, their market presence would be much higher.

the first time I become in love with apple was when the IPad 2 launched. I never knew about Apple until I saw the commercial for the IPad 2, after watching the commercial, I researched about apple and then went looking for an iPad 2 to buy and then on my birthday, my dad bought one for me💜💜 I loved it. To this day it is still running and still using it almost everyday.

I still have iMac G3 it was my first Apple Product and learn how to use computers. I thought it was really cool beautiful when I was kid back then fell in love With it. It was beginning of me falling in love with Apple Products for first time. So I been Apple fan since then and learn lot about Apple too. Thank Steve Jobs you made me love computers and technology showed me anything is possible even if people say it's not possible.

My sister had one of these. I always thought it was an underpowered piece of junk, but they were very successful for Apple and paved the way for their modern atyistoc computer designs.

I loved That startup sound i had a red one complete with Mac os 8.5 witch i later upgrade tot 9.

I stil have it to bad my Graphic card died on it hope to find one so i can fix it.

I remember not long before this, you'd get catalogs of Mac computers where they were trying to get anything for their old models. It really looked like Apple was just about through.

Next year is the 20th anniversary of the iMacs that came in Blueberry, Strawberry, Lime, Grape and Tangerine.

Still have my Rev. A iMac (like the ones in this video) all boxed up like brand new. Hopefully it'll be worth some money someday! Favourite computer I've owned.
