I've been countering some morons' baseless lies with facts, but it did nothing to sway them; they stick to their lies without a moment of thought. So, that method might be right, but it's NOT ENOUGH. When someone is so arrogantly and blatantly attached to lies, facts alone won't make a difference. Sorry, but this had to be said.

This doesn't work with toxic people. Most of the things suggested will enrage them and make them come back even more strong, more devious, and who knows what else. They don't get sarcasm, they don't understand empathy - especially as a teaching tool, they don't believe they have consequences and will do whatever they want because they are privileged and special, they will not care if you do not agree with them because they will just turn and go to someone who will agree with them or who they can dominate. This is not good!

As enjoyable as these 'tricks' are, they'll probably only work on someone who is temporarily toxic - i.e., someone who is only having a bad day. Someone who is truly dark personality toxic is more likely to double down on your response in any of a number of ways. Thus, if you’re following this advice, proactively prepare yourself for that eventuality.
