The Uneasy Alliance achievement has finally been answered, the description for it said "Rescue a Ghast from the Nether", implying that the Ghasts aren't native to the nether in the first place and is actually from the overworld, maybe from some of the cold biomes specifically because it likes to eat snow

Just to remind you all, the achievement for taking a ghast to the overworld refers to the action as "rescue". Dried ghast in the nether, the ghastling's fondness for snowballs... Ghasts are supposed to be in the overworld, not the nether.

Saddling a Ghastling should give you the achievement "easy alliance"

Amazing concept, but I feel the method of picking up the Dried Ghast for transport is a bit... unsettling. It should break instantly (identically to Ferns, Dead Bushes, etc) so it gives the illusion of merely grabbing it instead of having to punch it multiple times as cracks form on its sad dried body.

Theory: all ghasts were originally passive and happy, but they got sad and depressed after being in the nether too long due to the lack of water and vegetation.
