I don't think Emma truly hates Jean I think Jean is the one person that intimidates her and it has been stated that she has a somewhat pathological fear of Jean as Jean is basically the only telepath that has bested her on multiple occasions with and sans the Phoenix force. I think Emma hates the fact that deep down she respects Jean.

Emma hates Jean Grey because Jean is everything Emma wants to believe she is, and also walking, talking proof that Emma falls short of her own goals.

Also, Emma and Jean have a lot of similarities, and Emma, who has been indirectly or directly responsible for the deaths of dozens of her own students, as well as many other people, has a healthy dose of deeply repressed self-hatred. So what better outlet for that self-hatred than someone she sees on some level as a better version of herself?

I hated the way later writers twisted Scott Summers character and have him cheat on Jean. Nope.... Don't buy it. The OG Cyclops ain't doing that.
