F-16 in ALASKA Gets a RUSSIAN Fighter Jet Surprise!

On September 23, 2024, a Russian Su-35 fighter jet performed an aggressive and unsafe manoeuvre near a U.S. Air Force F-16 in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The incident occurred during a routine intercept by NORAD of a Russian flight group, which included a Tu-95 strategic bomber. The Su-35, escorting the Tu-95, dangerously cut across the path of the American F-16 at high speed in what has been described as a “headbutting” manoeuvre.

Video footage of the event, released a week later, shows how close the Su-35 came to the F-16, prompting concern from U.S. military officials. NORAD Commander Gen. Gregory Guillot labeled the Russian pilot’s behavior as “unsafe” and “unprofessional,” stating that it endangered both the Russian and American aircraft. While such intercepts in the Alaskan ADIZ are fairly routine, this particular incident stood out due to the proximity of the Russian jet to the F-16, making the encounter particularly hazardous.

This is part of a broader trend of aggressive interactions between Russian and NATO aircraft, with similar incidents having occurred in other regions like the Black Sea and off Syria. These maneuvers, often provocative, raise the risk of accidents or miscalculations that could escalate tensions between Russia and NATO.

"Unprofessional" is the official propaganda language of the US Air Force if the Russian Air Force embarrasses them...

If it was a Western pilot. Everyone would have been saying he showed the Russians. Bravo, top gun.

The problem is that American world dominance is at its end. Get used to it

Do not approach Russians if you are going to cry later.

That maneuver can be done by only highly skilled and extremely qualified individual pilots. It shows the state of readiness and confidence by the Russian pilots.

In real combat, the pilot of the F 16 is one hundred percent dead. He even noticed how the SU 35 came right into his tail. The complete lack of professionalism of the F16 pilot.

I can't help thinking the Russian fighter pilot was telling the F16 to "F*&k Off" without shooting a it.

The Russian knew exactly what he was doing. This type of "lets get the NATO pilot to soil himself" maneuver has happened a number of times, over the Black Sea, outside of the Norwegian coast, etc..

Knowing solid Russian military aviation and doctrine, the TU 95 is accompanied by only very experienced pilots. If we add to that that the SU-35 pilot must already be experienced in order to operate this powerful machine, it was a very well calculated maneuver. The fact that the F-16 pilot expressed that he was shocked is his personal problem and inexperience. If you are already following a Russian strategic bomber this close, then you have to be very careful.

They were close to Alaska, but they were closer to Russia. Its just 50-60km separating them. But what else to expect from the US other than lies. And what SU-35 did is
master class F... OFF move, so the F-16 would stop harassing Russian T-95 bomber. It has been reported that the F-16 pilot is doing fine after returning home, just to be on the
safe side he got prescribed Top Gun 1 & 2 once a day for a week.

Looked to me like the F16 didn't have a clue that su35 was incoming

You people need to understand. What is unprofessional for American pilots, is routine for Russians.
If this were vice versa, you would have been praising your pilot. Save the world of your hypocrisy, please. What you should be concerned about, is why the American pilot couldn't see him incoming.

Su-35s are beautiful machines. I bet the F-16 pilot had to go and sit it their safe space and invent some more personal pronouns after that.

Unprofessional is better than Rules-based international order.

And the truth. An American F 16 harassed a Russian group in international airspace. "near" is NOT Alaskan airspace! "Escorting" = harassment. Either report with integrity or shut up!
