It’s so cool that a fish loves its soon to be babies. Animals are a lot smarter than given credit for. 🐟👍👏

Love this. We have a pair and they’ve spawned 3 times in a community tank, but defending so much they or someone ends up eating them, so we moved them to their own tank, they laid a small amount of eggs but ate them… any tips on how to facilitate a productive spawn?

OK Big question? ours have had 250 baby fry! (the whole ritual ) the mother moving the unborn embryos withher mouth on the daily - Every time we've had a batch there was original 250 little swimmers first day or two- All batches start that way and within 5 days there is only 40 left .. Eventually 40 make it to maturity? How do so many die so quick? We only have mother and father and no other fish? I have a few theories? The mother keeps micro managing where they are hanging, tirelessly moving them and accidentally swallowing them? IS IT OK to remove mother and father to keep more alive OR is it natural for the defected ones to die, or natural for most of them to die off regardless of parents there or not?? LMK thks so much

Why does it say he’s defending his eggs? Is it not the female that lays them? Or is the male defending them after fertilising?
