As a teen in the 1970s my parents went to CB Breaks in Riverside & Ontario Calif along with my friends' parents. I (cookie monster) would often use the radio to contact friends, since the phone wasn't as accessible as it is today - party lines, cost per minute, etc.
If you can't beat 'em join 'em, right? Maybe your wife's attitude will rub off on me - never say never.

We just had our Hamfest here in Mesa AZ today as well. Got rained out within 3 hours of it starting.

I was highly disappointed at the turnout. A lot of them said there is one in Ocala today too.

Your last hamfest was actually in 2021 February, not 2020. I would have come to this one too, but the cost went up from $5 for tail-gate to $15. That was a tipping point for me. It was a good one in 2021 though.
