DIY Electric Scooter Part 1: Conversion

A basic city scooter upgrade with a 250 Watts electric hub drive.
The BLDC speed controller is from ebay, the hub drive from aliexpress and the batteries from hobbyking. Total cost including the scooter were around 200€.

It's surprising just how powerful a little 250w hub motor is! My 2000w outrunner scooter has similar burnouts.... just a little higher top speed. :)

Are you still using the scooter? I also got myself a 8 inch hub motor, 2pcs of 5C lipo and the same looking Chinese controller. Is it holding up against the extra voltage?

Could you take the speed controller apart to show us what is inside?

It would be a cool to make an open source speed controller, perhaps adding more features. Would regenerative braking be possible with this motor?

dumb question is this motor a gear or gearless motor. just thinking about doing an ebike conversion but only know of geared regenerative braking.
