I am watching this after six years this was made. So warm and great to hear God's servant doing a marvellous job so humbly.

If there were interactive maps through out this lecture it would be incredible.

thank you I love history and especially doctor Cline. He is the best bar none I could listen to him all day. History facts, no agenda or bias just facts.

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind and all your strength. Love your neighbor as yourself." It's very interesting to hear all these details but no matter how much factual evidence We Gather it will always come down to Faith and if you don't have it anyone reading this ask God seriously about it when you have some time alone. God locked up some things behind a wall that we cannot penetrate with knowledge so that we would have to seek him with our heart and our soul and not just our mind. I appreciate everything you've gathered and all the knowledge but I still wanted to say this to anyone who will listen.

Thank you. I actually saved these lectures of Mr Cline over a year ago. I just thoroughly enjoyed them. But unfortunately the person who uploaded them deleted them to my disappointment. So once again thanks.

This land was given to them (Abraham's children): " So Abram went forth as the Lord had spoken to him; and Lot went with him. Now Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. 5 Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his nephew, and all their possessions which they had accumulated, and the persons which they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan; thus they came to the land of Canaan. 6 Abram passed through the land as far as the site of Shechem, to the oak of Moreh. Now the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your [h]descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him. 8 Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord. 9 Abram journeyed on, continuing toward the Negev.

I was raised and lived a Catholic Christian just now trying to find out the accuracy of the New Testiment starting with the History of Israel and the Old Testiment with Timaeus shown here, amazing to say the least. Seems both Testimates the Old and the New have been translated to the point both will be Impossible to Prove Correct. Looks like my Faith alone will have to Sufice. God Help Me!

they built the "city of ramses" because they wrote it down during the time of ramses so this is a reference to the place where the were building and not the time period. Hebrews were huge fans of oral tradition so anything that would have been written down would be an account after generations passing if not hundreds of years later while in the city of ramses

I want to be reimbursed for the time I spent listening for this lackadaisical lecture. I got hypnotized looking at a single map.

If you loved '1177 B.C.: The Year Civilization Collapsed' (I loved it so much so that I bought the revised & updated edition, 2021, paperback AND audiobook).
Be aware that the sequel 'After 1177 B.C.: The Survival of Civilizations' is published by Princeton University Press (16 April 2024).
1177 B.C - I'll have 2014 hardback, 2014 Audible (8:03) 2021 revised & updated paperback & 2021 revised & updated Audible (10:47)
After 1177 hardback and (as yet not announced, but I feel certain to be released) Audible.

Their are no mountains in the Sainai penn.
The Hebrews crossed the Gulf of Aqaba into Media north west Arabia.
The tallest mountain in thia range is Mt.Sainai burnt at the top.
And has a rock alter at the foot of the mountain.

For the most part, I appreciate this synopsis; however, it does become obvious that using the Old Testament as it's own primary source creates the same problem as using the New Testament for the historiography of Jesus. Anyway, i wonder why the Habiru theory was dismissed so readily? That the ancestors of the Jews were a marginalized class of an otherwise homogeneous Cannanite civilization that just so happened to be collapsing around this time makes more sense. Maybe a handful of slaves escaped Egypt, met the original Yahweh nomads of the Arabian desert, adopted their particular theology and introduced the "new" God to the Habiru when they settled in the abandoned territory of the I was still listening to the video when he presented the Mendenhall peasant revolt theory. As possible evidence, consider the radical social philosophy early Judaism introduced to an otherwise extreme despotic political environment in the near east.

I'd love to have had more of an interactive experience with the maps to go along with this AMAZING teaching. (Bookmark 24:45)

"About 2000 B.C., after the fall of the Third Dynasty of Ur, Sumerian scribes took it in hand to record the glories of the great days that had passed away. They must have had at their disposal a mass of documentary evidence, and from this they compiled on the one hand the political history and on the other the religious traditions of the land. Their histories have perished, or survive only in excerpts embodied in Babylonian chronicles of much later date, but there do remain contemporary copies of the schematic lists of kings which they drew up as the framework of their narrative..."
