How to drive on 3 lane roundabouts

How to successfully drive on 3 lane roundabouts is what we are covering today. Most roundabouts have 2 lanes on them, but when you are confronted with a roundabout that has 3 lanes on it you must still remember the roundabout rules.
Still use your routine on the approach to the roundabout(mirrors, signal, position, speed and look)M.S.P.S.L. If you want to move across from centre lane to left lane, always check your left mirror before moving and even check your left side passenger window to see what's there. The same would be repeated if you were in the right lane on the roundabout and was wanting to come across to the left.
Know where you are going on the roundabout and know which lane to enter onto the roundabout and which lane to exit the roundabout.
Be aware of bad drivers on large roundabouts that speed past you on possibly both sides and be aware of drivers who drift into your lane on the roundabout when entering the roundabout.

Avid watcher of your videos, passed yesterday with 0 minors. Thanks for all your help James!

If anyone struggles with nerves, try chewing gum. I went for Airwaves as it's hot enough for me that it distracted from the initial nerves and as the test went on, the chewing just helped me focus. Really recommend it!!

I'll use this for my students Travis. We have a very smaller version of that roundabout which you have to switch lanes on and tends to confuse everyone so this will be really helpful. Thank you as always! 😁

What a lot of drivers overlook is that where lane1 on approach is left turn only it expires at the first exit. Straight ahead traffic needs to move left into the new lane 1 as the left turners should have gone. Not moving left puts you in conflict with the right turners

Except for an unmarked roundabout when it's left for left and straight over, middle is overtake If left hand land is busy with those exiting left and right for right..

I wish there was a version for those drinving on the right.

All the videos on big roundabouts and circular intersections in europe are for UK but driving on the left is confusing.

What about roundabouts that have two lanes on approach, but three lanes on exit with no clear road markings or signage for who can exit on the middle lane? Further back from the approach, there are road markings saying both lanes can go straight ahead, however there are no more markings at the entrance or clear lane lines on the roundabout dictating which lane can exit where. This is important because the three lane exit immediately leads to another round about where the left lane on approach is only for turning left (A1 sliproad), the middle lane is for straight or turning right, and the right lane of course also to turn right. (For reference to look at the road on google maps, its the A1114 that leads to a double roundabout that leads to A695 (Scotswood Bridge) or A1 sliproad at Gateshead/Newcastle.
