Gold Standard is to continuously check the patient is unconscious whilst doing the procedure

My father had his belly button surgery when the anesthesia didn't work at all, he was legit screaming while the surgeon was operating

I asked my nurse this before surgery. They have you on moniters incase you do wake up and this is very very rare and due to the gas you would bot feel anything

Why i was undergoing appendectomy, i woke up durining the operation . I look at the doctors and then at my stomach and saw my appendix being pulled out. Fortunately i feel no pain and even bothered the doctors 😂

This happened to me when I had a gallbladder removal surgery, but thank God I recovered immediately after the surgeons finished the surgery. I woke up in the operating room and there was a big circular light above my head. It looked like a dream and I had difficulty speaking and moving, but I think the amount of anesthesia helped me not feel the severe pain and reduced it.🙃

I had it during my galblader operation i was lucky enough that i just woke up after they cut my galblader almost i think but the amount of pain i sustained was undefinable i was 8 years old at that time now i am 12 i was very disturbed by it so much i couldn't sleep properly for 2 months but after that i thought to do meditation and after 6 months i could overcome by nightmares of that operation

don't let this scare you! it is very, VERY uncommon to wake up during surgery - they often administer a strong dose of anesthesia through an IV + keep you asleep with oral anesthesia through a mask. you are also hooked up to a variety of machines that monitor you during surgery and things will often spike/change drastically if you wake up (i.e. your heart rate). even if you were to wake up, you probably wouldn't feel anything due to the medication administered.

you are also put to sleep by an anesthesiologist, whose entire job is putting you to sleep and making sure you stay that way.

I had an anesthesia awareness as a five year old when i broke my left arm, i fell off the bed and landed my WHOLE BODY on that arm. It didnt even hurt like wth, the only thing i could feel after being woken up was the mysteriously cold blade cutting my right arm, somehow the effect still made me fall asleep seconds later

Surgeons can usually tell if a patient is "light" and subsequently ask anesthesia to give another dose.

I had anaesthesia once at 20 years. And the moment I woke up I was so happy. I can’t express in words. It started with a bright white light and it felt like heaven. I was smiling and appreciated life like never before. Had a conversation with a random dr passing by. Was expressing my joy to him😂

I actually had this. I had a heart surgery When I was 15 they had to Carterize a few places on my heart to make the beat regular and for that i had to be awake for the hole 6 hour surgery because when i was asleep it was harder to find the places to cauterize
