I tried some of the others first, they have major flaws, but Docsumo has OCR character recognition quality close to Google Lens. I use it in Chinese and Japanese, I wish it didn't have to open another tab to translate on Google translate, but I think it's because they'd have to pay per character if they used the API directly into their window. Of course Google Lens is the big OCR boss out there, you can copy-paste (ctrl-C > V) or image-drop any sloppy handwritten Chinese letter, it recognized each single sign. If you want something more straightforward and less performant to read raw manga, freeware Capture2Text (portable, not browser dependent) reads anywhere, pronounces the OCRed sentence, translates it with just a shortcut key.

best extension by far since all of the other ones don't work and probably might give you malware, this on the other hand is a real and easy-to-use extension and a great free product.

Getting an error with both options: "Welcome to the Docsumo Free OCR extension tool. Please reload the page before using this tool". Even I rstarted chrome, the error message keeps popping up and the software cannot be used. Also tried on Edge - no success. Any suggestion please. Thanks.

iPhone has this built into their camera functionality. No need for anything further. Came here looking for scanned PDF OCR.
