Extreme drive: Norway’s FAR northern lighthouse

Показать описание
I drove from the town of Kjøllefjord, Norway even further above the Arctic Circle, up to Slettnes Fyr, the world's northernmost mainland lighthouse. It's just north of the small fishing village of Gamvik on the Barents Sea. It was a moody, cloudy day, perfect for this extreme location.
Then I visited the Gamvik Museum, which was closed but where I managed to get special access and a surprising private tour. The host told me all sorts of interesting facts about Gamvik and its life and history.
From then it was a long drive south, back down the peninsula through Ifjord, Tana Bru, and to Austertana. The landscape was strange and treeless for much of it. This entire long day was packed full of incredible northern Norway and Finnmark adventures. One of my favorite days, anywhere.
