My husband was in the Air Force back in the 70's and the govt shut down...it was no big deal! Also a few years ago we were at Rushmore and the day after we toured...there was another shut down and again, no big deal! Don't make more out of it than it really is...a bunch of brats having temper tantrums!

I think politicians thought that since WW2 seemed to help stop the depression, that another war would be good. IDK, I'm not a politician, but that would be my "Uneducated Guess"

1.4 bil a day for military, I believe was the quoted amount DURING a govt shutdown. How much of that is going towards armed forces paychecks?
