Munchausen Syndrome (Factitious Disorder)

Factitious Disorder, previously known as Munchausen Syndrome, is a condition where people fake or exaggerate illness and injury for no apparent reason other than to to gain sympathy and attention from others.

In this video Darren Magee outlines the common characteristics and behaviours of the disorder and discusses some ideas of where it might come from. It is a condition which can also be present with some personality disorders such as narcissistic personality, borderline personality or anti social personality.
