Splendid! All this controversy about ghe angels' sex is rather ridiculous. Since Vivaldi was fond of young girls, for these modest religious works girl's voices from an orphanage which worked as a kind of excellent music school for the destitute, were common for him. However, he, like most baroque music composers for centuries, employed for their major works ( operas and great masses ) the elite of the vocalists, the castrati, when available; if not, male or female would suffice equally. By the way, more interestingly than the sex of sounds, I didn't know there were female basso voices, where on earth did they find them? A Polish speciality?

This is a fine performance, except for the tempi, singers' tambre, singers' pitch accuracy, and the absence of men in the chorus. The orchestra is praiseworthy, though, as are the solists.
