I believe communion to be a sign and seal of the new covenant.

Much like the waters of baptism, the importance is what it points to not the material itself.

How do you take Jesus words in the institution when Jesus says, “This is my body” as he holds the bread? And when he says, “This is my blood” when he gives the wine?

I think it’s more of a symbol. I also agree that we do it in remembrance of Christ’s death and resurrection.
