EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Unboxing
Показать описание
The EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Unboxing has brought to us a card that has been coveted for a long time even before its announcement and release. The GTX 1080 Ti is the flagship gaming card in the Nvidia GeForce line and if ever there were a flagship brand that manufactures Nvidia chips it would very likely be EVGA. Additionally, if ever there were a flagship chip produced by EVGA, it would be the FTW3 which comes from the factory with a nearly 1700 MHz overclock. The GTX 1080 Ti boasts a glorious 11 (wtf kind of increment is that) GBs of GDDR5 RAM meaning we can stash all sorts of high resolution textures in this sucker without worry. Said memory on the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 has an effective clock of 11016 MHz. In short, there is a reason this is the flagship Nvidia GeForce gaming graphics card at the moment and a reason the EVGA FTW3 iteration is the flagship of the flagship. YOU SEE ALL THESE FUCKING BANG WORDS?!
So, we aren’t really doing an actual review on the graphics card in this video but just an EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Unboxing and quick glance at the build quality and goodies that come along with it. I will also do a little bit of review type stuff in this description section for anyone interested, but my main focus is just reviewing the physical product rather than its performance. We will take a look at the GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 installation and performance in another video which will be in the end screen of this video whenever I get my lazy ass around to making it and getting it up. Let’s just start with the basics here regarding EVGA packaging and shipping: super solid and quick respectively. I preordered the 1080 Ti FTW3 the instant it became available and actually saved some dosh that way, they took $1 as a deposit and then charged me when it actually shipped out about a month later. I had the graphics card in my possession like 4 days after it shipped, so I can’t complain after waiting like a month for my 1080 Ti to get out of preorder phase. The packaging is just about what you’ve come to expect from most high-end electronics manufacturers like EVGA. It is high quality cardboard and insulating foam in an elegant but intuitive presentation. Easy to open but still protective enough to trust with over $700 of pure Nvidia GeForce gaming horsepower.
Finally breaking tape on our EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 unboxing we get out first looks at her insides. Right in our face is EVGA’s usual overly showy presentation in the form of a high quality, super folded, movie poster that is too edgy for anyone to try and hang up because it would likely cut a hole through their wall. Luckily, the gimmicks seem to stop here with the 1080 Ti FTW3. You’re given a nice little badge for the side of your case, a driver disc, and some little pamphlets for getting started/returns. Then, wrapped in a crispy EVGA encrusted, but just translucent enough anti-static bag giving you a teasing glance of the beastly GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 hibernating inside. Though you’ve waken the sleeping giant by pulling the card from its resting place, it still hasn’t enough nourishment to put up a fight. When the time comes though, you will provide it with said sustenance and it will love and trust you for doing so. Just like a bear, the engineering provided for our EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 Unboxing is MEATY to say the least. This thing feels like a brick in the hand, but we have to figure out if this brick is elegant enough to justify the price tag.
Craftsmanship is something we have come to expect from Nvidia as well as EVGA and with the Pascal architecture being such a huge leap forward in graphics computing capabilities, this card is definitely no exception. I was a bit skeptical of the plastic cage that was built around the fans and heatsinks because of its lightweight and somewhat non-rigid feel. As the GTX 1080 Ti bent lightly in my hand I could still feel that it wasn’t brittle but was more solid than it let on. To unbox an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 and have it be flimsy and wimpy would be a major let down, but I am quite sure that this is glass reinforced plastic that is only flexing because of the way it is mounted and the fact that it has a very skeletonized structure designed to improve airflow from the beautiful vented heatsinks reaching the length of the card and adorned by 3x120mm fans that pump make you fear the 1080 Ti might fly right out of your case if you forgot to screw it in. The LED placement is smart, including LED temperature indicators for each of the important zones of the GPU, an entirely customizable logo LED and all can be turned off making the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 suitable for most builds.
I have been waiting to make my EVGA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3 unboxing video for quite some time because it would mean I finally got my hands on it. I am super stoked on this card and (spoiler alert) am also stoked on the performance… even if there is a bit of a caveat. We will cover that in the review video that you can check out sometime in the coming week.
