We demo the iPhone 5/4S feature of a laser keyboard in this Concept iPhone 5/4S video. The keyboard in this new iPhone design can be swiped out of the mobile device. Its different to the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3gs of today.

@sachsmaster This tech is already in existence. The projected keyboard was first patented in 1992, I can't say if current projected keyboards have teh dimming capabilities or if they're all that accurate but the tehcnology is already there and has been for almost 20 years.

That projection's pretty advanced, but I could totally stand to see this feature. Only issue is it would need to adjust based on the orientation and tilt of the screen, which could make it unfeasible. It's probably better to use the laser keyboard bluetooth device that's available now.

@NicholasFonville This technology exists in other applications (like a desktop keyboard or an additional device for mobile devices) but we're not in the stage where we can take this technology and fit it into a phone as a complimentary module. Not to mention the kind of power requirements it would need. As mentioned before, an iPhone would last about ten minutes using this. While the technology is conceptually available, it's not practical or at the consumer level.

One of the coolest concepts I've seen. Obvious problems are the technology and probably the battery life. It would just simply cost too much much pretty damn cool.

@sachsmaster No, because phones with touchscreens had been available in japan, south korea and other countries since about 2004-2005, maybe even further. Apple wasn't the first to invent this stuff, its just that apple is a popular demand product so most people haven't even heard of this stuff until apple released their own.

Define digitizer, you could have a digitizer in the projection system that see's the interuption of the image and registers that as a key stroke. Open your minds, the people at apple that are designing this stuff are a lot smarter than we are.
