Another aircraft question, on the older F16 the 4 or five knuckle looking objects infront of the canopy. Knewer modles dont have them?

Its fairly suprising that all the missile (IR, SARH, ARH) managed to be able to make sense of a target that big and track towards right where the pilot wanted it to hit. Unguided weaponry like rockets or bombs dropped from above would be much more suitable for a target of this size

Actually, I'm pretty sure the word "fox" comes from word, "fox trot" or F In the phonetic alphabet. Which in this case would stand for fire, 1, 2, 3, etc. So, fox 1, fired 1rst missle, fox 2 second missle so on and so forth. It doesn't mean its a heat seeker. Nor is a sidewinder the most advanced. Where are you getting your info?

Fox 1 is heat seeking, fox 2 is semi active and fox 3 has its own onboard radar
