Are you referring to any specific B&W model? my 801 Matrix III are super smooth, perhaps a tad too much, while the newer ones can be fatiguing.

You've mentioned B&Ws. I see mastering engineers using DM 603 / 604 which are relatively inexpensive speakers (no longer produced, though). Can you comment on these?
