Mengele Book Launch with David Marwell

The Museum of Jewish Heritage and Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE) are pleased to co-present this book launch. "Mengele: Unmasking the Angel of Death" by former Museum of Jewish Heritage Director David G. Marwell describes the notorious war criminal’s training and early promise as a scientist; his wartime service in combat and at Auschwitz; and his postwar refuge in Germany and South America. It chronicles the international search for Mengele in 1985 that ended in a cemetery in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the dogged forensic investigation that eventually confirmed his death. Marwell is in conversation with Thorsten Wagner, Executive Director, Fellowships at Auschwitz for the Study of Professional Ethics (FASPE).

Strange that he was in touch with his family, his wife knew where he was, his son visited him in South America after he escaped from an American pow camp, yet this mass murderer was not brought to justice . There are testimonies detailing his cruelty and yet he escaped justice.

The story I read recently mentioned that twin sisters who were victims of Mengele in Auschwitz went into a Pharmacy in Buenos Aires, Argentina and came face to face with him working behind a counter as a Pharmacist.
In disbelief they quickly exited and reported it to a leader of the Jewish Community.
He declined to take the matter further saying in short 'what was, was'.
The Argentinian Authorities had made it clear to leaders on both sides [Jewish and German] that what had happened 'there' was to be left there and no 'rocking the boat' would be tolerated on Argentinian soil.
However Mengele had apparently got wind that his cover had been broken and disappeared very quickly.

By building Auschwitz they opened a book on how to treat subversives from then on and Medical Fascism Is a big thing in Britain.

This book is really interesting, I think it's important since we tend to relegate these criminals to the realm of "Monster" so that we protect ourselves psychologically from their actions, without ever considering that every human being may harbour these dark impulses. So we need to understand how this man became like that, I think he was sure to be working for the "greater good", eliminating inferior races. We need to remember that this is the product of ideology. It's also interesting to notice how science has to be regulated by an ethic, otherwise it becomes another tool for criminals.

It was "a system" that departed from the values commanded by God, and produced Mengele. The same way the Soviets who departed from God, fell into the abys of Chernobyl. And so on..

The Country of Brazil is also bad because they took these people in after the war. I heard that they new they would go there after the war way before the war of over
