The Beatles ended their busiest year with their most successful album to date. Although overlooked by many today, it represented a huge leap forward in the songwriting of Lennon and McCartney and contained hints of what was to come on Rubber Soul. In this video we look at the entire history of this LP from its songs to cover art and how it was represented around the world.

The opening triple salvo of “No Reply”, “I’m a loser” and “Baby’s in black” is one of the greatest album openings.

I don’t get why this album is still not a favorite among Beatles fans. It sure is one of my favorites. So much energy. Such great songwriting and guitar playing.
Beatles For Sale is still FaB in my book!

I've been saying for years that Every Little Thing is one of their best lesser-known songs.

Great video! But it wasnt Paul who made the remark about 8 days a week to the driver; it was the driver who made the expression to Paul.
Paul asked: "how you been? You been busy?" and the driver replied "Oh yeah mate, ive been working eight days a week".

It's one of those rewards waiting for casual Beatles fans transitioning into hardcore Beatles fans...you overlook it for years and then one day you start playing it and you discover it is among the most pleasant, homey, chilled out records...a perfect party record too. Beyond the nice vibes, you discover how wonderful all the vocal performances are. What You're Doing is one of my favorite songs, I find myself replaying it over and over.

I'm sure the story about "eight days a week" went that it was Pauls Driver who coined the phrase. I've definitely heard Paul confirm that in an interview.

Unapologetically, this is my 3rd favorite Beatles album. This is my favorite "guitar" album in the catalog. The original songs are mature, without being too mature and the covers tracks were very influential to my own musical evolution. Kansas City remains my favorite track on the album! And lastly, A+ to the album cover, which really does say 1, 000 words).

"Beatles for Sale" is definitely in my top five favorite Beatles albums. The vocals are raw and emotive, capturing the band's weariness during this transitional phase. Each member brought something unique to the table, and their harmonies blend together beautifully. The instrumentation, those jangly guitars and driving rhythms, just adds to the overall vibe. I can really feel the emotion in every note, reflecting both the thrill of fame and the fatigue that comes with it. It has this perfect mix of passion and authenticity that makes me love this album even more!

"I Feel Fine" was recorded on 18 Oct. 1964, my 3rd birthday. One of my favorite Beatles' tunes, and a nice birthday gift. Thanks fellas!

It’s US counterpart Beatles ‘65 was my favourite album when I was 12. I am now 61 years old and it still is my favourite album as well as Beatles For Sale.

"Baby's In Black" has been a favorite since I first heard it, I adore the harmonies and the dark story.

I really love Mr. Moonlight. I was surprised it wasn’t thought highly of.
Also, I thought Paul’s driver said he was busy working eight days a week and Paul loved that and got his inspiration from him for the song.

My girlfriend of that time gave me Beatles For Sale on 9/12/64 as an early Christmas present, she wrote and dated a message to me on it. It remains one of my favourites. Brings back happy memories!

This was my only Beatles CD in the car growing up so I’m pretty biased but honestly this is one of my favs. Most underrated of their catalog.

As an American I never knew this album until the 1970s. I bought Beatles ‘65 and Beatles VI in the sixties.
Hey, I always liked “Mr. Moonlight”! Paul’s “What You’re Doing” and “Every Little Thing” are among the best shorter songs he ever wrote. "Kansas City" was very popular in the USA, it worked well as their lead-off song on an American television performance. I could go on about these albums, but my goodness you already have more than 600 comments. Thanks and congrats on the growth of your channel!
