I just rewatched this movie. Two thanksgivings ago my partner drove off a mountain in Hawaii, just an awful accident. I didn’t know if I could love or trust again. This movie is such a beautiful way of showing how impossible it feels and how necessary it is to move on. And this SONG. The way they show her listening to it.

I've become fascinated (or obsessed?) with this movie. No new concepts for me, but a reminder of conversations I listened to and some I participated in when I was young - as in "Why bother? It all goes away in the end." But we still bother, we write books, poems, songs, and we hope someone remembers, if not us, then the ones we've lost. I've been through a lot of changes the past four years. The first time I saw the movie, I was bothered once more with the thought that, if I move, what if my daughter is still here? What if she can't follow me? She'd be dressed in a patterned sheet like the neighbor ghost who apparently died at home, too. Just finished viewing third time. I think I'll give it a rest for a while. Oh yeah. I do like this song, but it had to grow on me.
