You're so right about that Ramones song at the end credits, it was so cheesy & so out of place that it almost killed the sense of dread & fear that had been building the whole time I was watching the movie especially after that terrifying ending. My only other problem with the movie was the ghost, he was pretty creepy when he first showed up & that first time he appeared made sense & if they'd just maybe left it at that it would have been fine but he keeps showing up throughout the entire film & his part in the story began to feel too over the top the way it was handled. It kind of felt like the director had watched An American Werewolf In London & decided to take that character from the book & just make him like a carbon copy of the dead friend who keeps showing up in American Werewolf which didn't work. It's a shame really cause I've heard that character works much better in the book then it did in the film.

I have to say that this is my Kings favourite book/movie. Firstly, because I myself live not far from an ancient burial ground that has some spooky history. Secondly, because this book/movie makes you really think....If you had an opportunity to bring your loved ones back would you do that? Anyway, unlike other horror movies, Pet Semetary really makes you think about things.

The top hat and outfit appeared in a painting in Rachael's parents' house. It's supposed to make it clear that Gage has been possessed by the ghost of Zelda, but instead it just makes us wonder why Fred Gwynne's character has a top hat and an old timey Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit in his house somewhere.

I hated the ghost in this movie too, he's only there to pretend to help but everything so much worse (he's the reason the wife came and died). he's the Jar Jar Binks of King movies

The SCARIEST book I've ever read. Hands down. The movie also freaked me out, particularly Rachael's sister, Zelda, in the bedroom. Freaked...me...out. The thing that kind of derailed the terror for me was Gage suddenly appearing in the top hat and weird outfit. That just made no sense and ruined the kid's outstandingly malevolent performance.

I wish the Wendigo would have appeared in the film. This film adaptation suffered like IT in that they removed the most interesting cosmic/supernatural characters, with both IT adaptations omitting the awesome Maturin/The Turtle.

Gotcha. Yeah. I didn't realize that at all. Was a total mood breaker for me.
