I'm sorry but y'all are forgetting when they did it the 1st time, Simon kept asking her if she wanted him to stop. This time he kept saying wait and she didn't even care.

i get that she's hurt but he didn't actively try to lie to her - she just misunderstood. and she knew what she was signing up for. she knew that this marriage would be a childless one and she's the one who forced the marriage on him in the first place. and now she's making it his problem that she wants kids. she continued to have sex with him even when he said stop and she knew he didn't want kids. call it what you want, but that's so messed up

Simon took advantage of her innocence. He knew that she didn’t know how babies were made which is why she never questioned when he pulled out. He knew that she hoped for children before they got married and he knew that she assumed that he simply couldn’t have kids. Not that he just didn’t want any.

They are both wrong. Him for obvious reasons, he lied and his method was NOT safe at all so she would have been oregnant before too long anyways. And her for holding her future against him, because she knew ahe would not have kids with him and agreed on it. She did not know the reason but she agreed, so it was not him who sacrificed her future.

Okay they are both in the wrong but what daphne did was much worse, she assaulted him. But I do agree with her to an extent, he took advantage of her naivety to lie about the physical ability of having kids, he probably never would have told her the truth and continued to lie even while knowing that’s what she wanted most in life. And I realize she agreed to not have kids with him but there’s a huge difference in “I CANT have kids” and “I WONT have kids” and he is an ass for that but she shouldn’t have taken advantage of him physically, get it I would be angry to but assaulting someone is never the answer.

Obvious r*pe issues on Daphne’s part aside, Simon saying how he was willing to die for her as an excuse for lying reminded me of that Hamilton line. “Dying is easy, living is harder”

This was so fucked up oh my god. I swear to god, the internet would've wreaked havoc if the roles were reversed. Yeah I get that simon deceived her to some extent but that doesn't excuse what she did by any means. Simon didn't even outright lie to her, she just misunderstood him. But she didn't think to just fucking TALK to him after finding out instead of forcing herself on him???? It's so fucking frustrating because most of their problems would be non existent if they were just transparent and understood the concept of 'communication'.

As much as a I hate this scene I’m just glad he wasn’t drunk like in the book. Rape is rape though and that’s basically what she did here. She may not understand it to be that, but it is.

I understand that Simon was wrong in not fully communicating what he meant about not giving her children…

However I do not believe the punishment for that crime is sexual assault and trying to force him to have children against his will.
