The scene after this where they show simon's face while Daphne is crying in the room with her mother is something else. My god ! Simon is just flawless, he is trying to control his tears and the pain caused to Daphne.

Idk but somehow I felt like this was just one of their best scenes since it really showed how Simon cared for Daphne even tho they were fighting.

And she's like 10 years younger than him too. He caused her a LOT of pain. She handled it well given all the circumstances.

His holding her hand is both a comfort and a blow, and both because even though she's not saying it you can tell she feels guilty about what she did (you saw the expression on her face as Lady Whistledown was narrating her closing statement). His showing tenderness adds to her guilt but also brought reassurance that he would forgive her.

That was sad didnt happen that way in the books but the way they changed it worked too. In the book she leaves him, he eventually goes after her, she falls off a horse, then she tells him that she missed her period and thought she was pregnant but actually wasnt at all etc

i think the pain was heavy for the both of them in this scene b/c had Daphne been pregnant it would have still ruined the marriage b/c it was by force but given the fact she was not that still meant their marriage was over despite the fact that they loved each other. Which is why we see Daphne weeping in her mother's arms and Simon fighting back tears.
