Welcome to the 2020 Auto Express New Car Awards. This year we're announcing the best new cars you can buy in a special socially distanced ceremony.

There are 26 award categories covering the entire UK car market from city cars, superminis and small SUVs through to family hatchbacks, executive cars, hot hatches, supercars and luxury cars. Finally, we'll also announce the overall Auto Express 2020 Car of the Year.

I don't know why the Tesla Model 3 keeps getting grouped in premium/executive car classes with serious expensive rivals, isn't it supposed to be basically VW-level in perceivable quality etc?

Skoda do have a fantastic range and I’d happily own any of them. Just annoying to find out that they sell them in Oz with a 5 year warranty. Can you ask your chums at Skoda why their European home market has no such luck?

A great list of awards, no arguments at all bar perhaps the model 3 beating the Taycan for best premium EV. The taycan exudes ‘premium’, I’m not sure the model 3 is in that company.
