Cheap MTB Lights - Solar Storm X3 - 30,000 lumens?

Cheap MTB Lights. Are they really worth the money. I acutally have to say "YES". Now while most of the premium brands create some of the best lights on the market, it's simply not affordable for all MTB Riders. So I opted to purchase 2 x Solar Storm X3 units on Ebay for a sensible price of less than £30. While the description on the website claims that 1 unit will produce a maximum output of 15,000 lumens, I can say that this claim is just ridiculous.

Now don't get me wrong, the item is well built and comes with some good accessiors. The rear light that came with the package was garbage so I threw this away. But considering the price tag on this item this Cheap MTB light performs so well.

I use 1x Solar Storm on the helmet and 1 x on the bars, so working together it produces a good field of view in all modes of lighting.

The run time for my unit on maximum power was around 1hr 48mins. This is so impressive and can out perform more premium units.

So if you fancy a go at MTB night riding then why not purchase something on the cheaper side. If you get the buzz for it then perhaps then you can look at someting that doesn't require the external battery and produces a more accurate lumen count.

So I rate the Solar Storm X3 as a great product. Certainly a Cheap MTB light that will ensure you see the trail with no issue, lasts long enough for any trip and not break the bank. These lights are serioulsy worth considering.

Had the X2 version for 3 years. Brightness is good, battery life is terrible on low. a bit over an hour. Also it is not recommended to keep it plugged in when you´re not using it since it´ll drain the battery pack,

I used such a cheap light for 2 months, until the battery caught fire. I would definitally advice everyone to buy a good quality lamp.
If your budget doesn't reach your needs you can still buy the lights with less lumen. They will still be quit bright.
Don't be fooled by the lumens advetised on those cheap lights. The one I bought was advertised for 2000 lumen. It wasn't even close, I guess it must have been something around 500 lumen at best.

No cheap lights for me anymore, I recently bought a 1100 lumen lezyne light.

I recently bought this light and I reckon it's underpowered. I have another cheepo single led light that has a similar output so why with three led's does this light not perform three times better. Maybe it's the battery pack, it's 8.4v which equates to 2.8v per led if they're wired in series.
I'm tempted to run mine off 12v
What do you reckon?
The single one takes 3.7v by the way.
Should I do it, the led's are quite big?
I just don't want to pop it.
Decisions decisions.

I have the same light but with a single more focused beam light on my helmet. I'm pretty impressed with them. I'm sure the 6 pack lights are far better but they are ridiculously expensive

There is no issue with how much light is generated by the x3.
However be very cautious about buying them, my charger literally exploded with pieces over 3 metres away from the plug.

There seems to be an upgraded version with a better battery pack. I got over 3hrs on high. I eventually turned it off because it was getting hot - when in use it should have airflow from movement that my simple test didn't provide. I love the wide deep throw of light. I can ride comfortable on low - rarey ever needing medium. I've bought 2 - they are a great buy. Imagine buying the newer waterproof 18650 containers where you can easily change out 4, 6, or 8 even better batteries and also charge you phone!

Good video any pics of how you have mounted one to the helmet.? And take it the battery pack is either in a coat pocket or back pack?

Keep in mind that most of these lights are cheap fake ones. The original one with 2200 lumens costed me around 75€ in the netherlands. Did not use it after autumn until now, battery still gives 3 green led's.

Thanks for the review, but it wasn't possible to hear much of what you were saying when on the trail and to be honest, maybe your camera wasn't picking up the brightness that you could see, but I wasn't that impressed with the light's brightness. I can't imagine what it would have been like with just the one handlebar light on.

I bought the USB powerbnak version ( no battery, connect it to a powerbank), about 5 euros. Solves the issue with the charger and crappy batteryt. Will let you know in couple of days how it is.

I bought one of those. Being me I upgraded the battery... I'm doing my first battery test as I type this. I am up to almost 6.5 hours on the highest setting, an it still has more to go!

looks like a XANES ML06 ^^
Is there anything brighter? something that is more like "high beam" in the car?
I already have a 12V horn from the car on the bike, I would like similar dimensions for the light ^^
