Mitering lumber like this never gives a good finish. The wood is always warped, bowed etc.
Just butt them together.
If it was finish carpentry, aka casing or something nice, then yes, miter it.

I would have measured two at 16 and two and 16+material width, cut em with a skill saw used the passload and left with my money
