Its funny how tables are turned, the Lexus is more connected to the road and the BMW is more isolated. Couldn't say that 10 years ago.

Actually, the new BMW M550 X-drive is the fastest accelerating BMW on sale right now. I had a chance to drive it at the Circuit of the Americas a few months ago, and I can tell you...it is FAST.

Turbo cars are affected less by elevation than na cars. Elevation still affects turbo cars. Just not as much. Im sure the bmw engine is underrated also.

The GS F is a bigger head turner, simply because you see BMWs everywhere nowadays. At least in the Bay Area

Reliability aside, I would prefer the BMW between those two, but at $90K BMW needs to do something about the obnoxiously hard plastics at knee level.

Any cars from the BMW m-sport line (not full M cars) are great, and do almost everything perfectly but there is this digital feeling that the car is doing everything and driver inputs are merely suggestions. I lust over a 2019 M550i for how good it is but in reality the Lexus, while slower and less sophisticated is still the better choice, particularly when out of warranty.

BMW's need to work on their long-term reliability and get to the same level as Lexus.
BMW's drive well and have great engineering, but I can't buy a car and constantly have to take it to the shop for repairs

I’d easily take the M550i. Coming from a true BMW fan, my first car was an e60 530i, and let me tell you the M550i is making almost the same impression as the e39 m5 when I‎t first came out
