Great video. Having good posture definitely helps. In the beginning, I was in so much pain, it just felt better to slouch. My back and my shoulders were in pain. Once I got out of the chair and started moving around, that helped alleviate the pain. I started researching and learning more about the human body after my stroke. There are so many things that I never knew. Having a strong core also helps with balance. I had a conversation with my trainer, he said there are muscles that need to be activated to perform certain movements. A lot of muscles weaken and shorten after a stroke, and we have to strengthen them and rebuild a connection to the brain with repetitions. For example, I can lay down on the floor and bring my knee to my chest with no problem, due to a strong core and strong hip flexors, but It's hard for me to do that standing up, due to weak glute muscles. My main glute muscle is weak that allows the leg to drive straight up and straight back. I have to re activate those muscles with exercise and repetitions. I try to learn as much as I can from trainers and therapist. Having knowledge about the body can really help you in your recovery, Everyone is affected differently. I decided to get a personal trainer to focus on both sides of the body. . I was only focusing on the affected side in the beginning, neglecting the unaffected side. For me it's trial and error, compare and contrast my progress from the beginning up until now and months down the road. I have a trainer until next August, so I'm curious and excited to see where I will be at in my recovery a year from now . I will never give up. Some days are better than others but I feel a lot better overall mentally and physically than I did a a few months ago. The brain is a very powerful tool, , so try to do whatever you can to let the brain know that that the affected side still exist. Sometimes I have to tell myself that I am powerful and strong and say " You can do this" when I get frustrated. I know it's not easy but never give up. September 25th will be 2 years for me.

As per usual, awesome video and videos, Tara. I really rely on my therapist to regain maximum mobility, and overall return to life after traumatic brain injury, these videos get me through the days I can’t be at the clinic and your advice and instructions have helped me immensely, thank you.

Dear Tara, I developed osteoarthritis and Tendonitis in my hips, due to an imperceptible imbalanced gait. What can I do to fix it? Just make my weaker side stronger? Would love your feedback.
Btw Im training 1 hour per day, my tendonitis is almost gone, and im training all my muscle around my hips and knees
Best regards
Marian
