A Texas six-year-old savant is one of the youngest people ever to be admitted to the high-IQ society, Mensa, and is committed to helping others. Ellison Barber sat down with the family of Chandler Hughes on how he wants to use his gift to become a doctor later in life.

The largest thing for kids like this is being as socially normal as possible. I hope these parents ensure their child can reach their intellectual goals as much as their social and emotional development because as someone who "skipped grades" and was told they were smart forever, it inevitably leads to depression, insecurity, and a feeling of not belonging.

Do your kid a favor and do not let him spend more than an hour a day with the other “smart kids”. You’ll find out, the best thing he can do is learn balance, to not be defined just by intelligence, but to develop emotional skills, self regulation, wisdom, etc
