I looked through my 4e phb a while back and was disappointed that the ranger didn't seem to have any nature related abilities, but the expanded books definitely fixed that. Otherwise the ranger is more of a midway point between the fighter and rogue, and is still pretty good.

Yea, the Ranger in the Castle Ravenloft Adventure system game was the first character I played in the game. Really decent character.

My 2nd favorite version of the Ranger (after the PF1e version).

Ranger is my favourite class. Ive been playing 4e Solo, running Adventures with a party of 4. It works well, as combat is far more tactical and meaningful in 4e than any other edition. I trief 5e solo, and it was very boring. You roll, they roll, you roll they roll. 5e is just plain dull. People didnt give 4e a fair chance, its my favourite version of D&D, this and BECMI. Anyways great upload Dave as always. All the best from Lancashire, England.

I got a little confused to follow it, because 4e D&D is very different from the standard D&D system in other editions (it look like a video-game system, like WoW and NWO).

So for what I got the Ranger in 4e don't have nothing to do with nature powers or animals? Just a tracker specialized in 2 weapons combat and Archery?

I don't know... 4th edition is my least favorite d&d ever, and so are most of its takes on the various classes, the martial ones above all. The ranger in particular has almost nothing of the nature-based combatant of 2nd and 3rd edition or the hunter/frontier man of PF1, reminding me more of a specialized kind of fighter than anything else.
Yes, it has some pretty and fancy moves, although the better ones are absurdly limited in use, but those can be easily imported in other editions as talents or feats and even made more reliable or versatile.
Maybe the essential version was better, but I don't know that part of 4th edition, since I stopped following it pretty soon to focus on Pathfinder.
