Dental assistant talking: there are TOO MANY factors that can cause receding gums, so it all depends on the etiology/ cause of the recession. Taking away the etiology may not 100% restore the original gingival contour, but at least it stops it from progressing further. The option of gingival graft can be available after removing the etiology, but they're often quite expensive because certain dental specialists: Periodontists (the ones that take care of the tissues surrounding teeth) are usually the ones that perform these surgeries and procedures.

Many reasons why gym recede. Abusing chewing tobacco, ginger vitus, infections. However the gums can often health themselves with in reason. Many people that chew tobacco do on weeks and off weeks so their gums can heal. Also gum grafts are a thing and other options are becoming available
