The only logical conclusion, is that for some reason, the political class is facilitating this. At the same time millions of people are struggling to keep their heads above water. What's the point of these people?

It's not just big businesses that our government has got cheap migrant labour hooked on. It's small local businesses, too. Look at aall the hand car wash joints, the servant class (cleaners, security, delivery drivers, etc), taxis, and much of the hospitality and service sectors. Much of this is cash-in-hand work, off the books, no questions asked. My local barber: Iranians - cash in hand. I went for a Chinese takeaway the other day - don't accept cards, cash only. No receipts, of course. All of this serves only to drive down the standard of living, security of employment, for which we and our ancestors fought for generations, centuries even. It's also pushed by the Bank of England and the Treasury in their drive to put downward pressure on both inflation and interest rates. I feel sorry for young (British) people today.
