Boeing, through its Australian subsidiary, has unveiled an image featuring the MQ-28 Ghost Bat, a "loyal wingman" type drone, alongside its MQ-25 Stingray tanker drone demonstrator designed for the U.S. Navy.

The Pentagon confirmed its acquisition of at least one MQ-28 last year, intending to employ it in support of advanced unmanned aircraft and autonomy initiatives within the U.S. Air Force. Recent reports have revealed Boeing's proposal for a carrier-capable version of the Ghost Bat, adding another dimension to its potential capabilities.

The photograph showcasing the MQ-28 and MQ-25 demonstrator together was shared across different Boeing social media platforms. Although Boeing did not disclose the specific location or date when the picture was taken, it seems the snaps are from MidAmerica Airport in St. Louis, Missouri. Viewers may note that this airport is recognized as the base for the MQ-25 T1 demonstrator.

Boeing stated on Twitter, “Our autonomous duo meets at last. The MQ-28 Ghost Bat, developed in Australia, provides fighter-like performance to expand airborne missions. The MQ-25 Stingray refuels fighters to keep the mission going. That’s unmatched uncrewed airpower."

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes why Boeing MQ-25 Stingray & MQ-28 Ghost Bat autonomous duo is incredibly promising ?

Boeing is merely one of 70 companies involved in the building of the Ghost Bat. It is designed and built by Australian companies under the auspices of the ADF.

Good video. As an Aussie I can share a little more detail about Ghost Bat. Apart from being stealthy and fast enough to keep up with fighters, the modularity offers air to ground, air to air, search and rescue, CAS, electronic spectrum jamming, recon, and forward targeting across all spectrum and bandwidths. Whilst not supersonic, she can travel and high enough subsonic speeds to be included in a fighter strike force. She can also dog fight (which would be scary as hell) as she can maneuver at G levels a piloted aircraft could only dream of. Legend has it she's pulled turns well in excess of 16G's in testing so far with greater levels planned. Here in Australia we have her linked to the F/A-18F Super Hornet, F-35A and E-7A Wedgetail. That's just because that's what we operate. Legend has it the P-8A Poseidon, which we also have, will partner with her for maritime mission profiles. Other allies that will no doubt integrate this platform will no doubt partner her with their specific platforms such as the F-15, Typhoon, Rafael, Gripen and F-16

"Boeing, through an Australian subsidiary"...
Actually the "subsidiary" is the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) and this is their project alongside Boeing Defence Australia as a partner...

Just for reference, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), is referred to as the “R double A F”, in Australia, not the R. A. A. F.

The MQ-25 has so much potential and they are only used for reconnaissance and refueling. At least the Aussies had the sense to make a very flexible platform.

Skynet approves
They should have kept the X-47B.

Im most excited for stingray and look forward to the advantage a low observable tanker brings as well as the increase in resiliency it represents to our logistical system

I love your straight forward format and the topics that you cover. Your videos play like a well written and very informative report. I would really like to see you use this format to cover the war in Ukraine. Aside from covering the war in Ukraine, please don’t change what you are doing.

Is Ghost Bat armed to protect the Stingray? It does little good to detect if it can’t protect the Stingray

Unless you are going to war today, what you have today is not be as important as what you or your opponent have tomorrow.

is this cheaper than converting old military aircrafts into drones?

The ALL Australian designed and built Ghost Bat has multiple, interchangeable nose cones enabling the drone to engage in different roles. These roles will include, but not be limited to tha ability to fly with manned fighters and be used as fighters, dependent on the nose cone and to be able to make its own decisions. While stated it is subsonic in nature for various stated reasons, there is nothing to preclude it from becoming supersonic. It is NOT just a deilvery vehicle as an alternative to a missile. It is MORE than a reconnaisance and one off blow em up drone, it is FIGHTING drone for fighting conentional aircraft with the ability to engage and return to base or as ordered.

Doesn’t anyone else know what the Australian slang for a ghost bat is? It’s a secret ‘bat’ in the workplace. Nice one ppl 😂

Something Doesn't make Sense Here: if the MQ-25's only Task is Aerial Refueling, Then by the DOD Designation System, it should be Designated KQ-25.

They can just refuel each other. Like operation blackbuck except without the hassle. Cheers.
