Early recognition and action: Stroke patient Dennis McLaughlin

Dennis McLaughlin and his wife Mary Sue were visiting family in the Upstate of South Carolina when he began experiencing the symptoms of a stroke. Mary Sue quickly recognized the signs of stroke and the family called 9-1-1. EMS arrived, triaged and transported Dennis to the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital where he met Neel Nitin Shah, MD and received specialized care for a stroke.
