Seth Lloyd: The Universe Is A Quantum Computer

What if our Universe is actually a powerful quantum computer? It may sound like science fiction, but this is the revolutionary idea proposed by physicist Seth Lloyd in his book «Programming the Universe». In this video, we'll dive into quantum computing and try to understand how the simple laws of physics govern energy and information, creating the complexity and diversity of our world.

We will explain why quantum mechanics allows particles to be in multiple states at the same time, and how this relates to the concept of parallel universes. Is it possible to model the entire universe one day? Can the laws of physics explain the emergence of life and intelligence? And what will our descendants face billions of years from now, when the last stars have faded away?

Isn't it interesting that the simulation theory has gained such traction over the last months? I think it's the existential dread of ASI we try to hide. Which is not to say that the theory is either true nor untrue.

This guy needs a discord community. Whoever this is has been more correct to my knowledge than anyone else.

44:52 "[Quantum computers] are able to break codes that have stumped classical computers for millennia" 🤔 Don't think that's quite what you mean, we haven't had classical computers for a single century, never mind millennia in the plural 🤣. Ah well, the entire video is filled with over simplifications and common misconceptions, but it makes for pleasant background listening nonetheless!

Time didn't exist until we created it. Said time is calculations based on our rotation on axis and orbit distance around the sun (sun dial). Basing the beginning on time is wrong way of calculating an existence. We can't say the universe is billions of years when the universe doesn't orbit a sun. It creates them !!! Radiation types and strengths are a good understanding based against our version of time if we want to understand life. Light can only travel so....far though. We will never see the beginning. As it's the same on both ends
