WWE2K19 is absolutely one of the best Wrestling games of all time. 💯

While I do love 2K23.

2K19 was really the magnum opus for 2K’s WWE games, it was perfect. The gameplay was just done to perfection and it really looks like 2K got the hang of wrestling games.

Imagine 2K19’s gameplay with 2K23’s roster and graphics with the updated engine. What could’ve been….what could’ve been.

WWE 2K23 is a fighting game with wrestlers, WWE 2K19 is a wrestling game

WWE 2k19 was closer to perfection than newer WWE games.

“Role playing a match and not just trying to beat your opponent.” perfectly sums it up.

It’s why I gave up on 2k22 after a month and didn’t bother with 2k23. I can have any match I want in 2k19. Fast or slow. Squash or long. Technical, big man, or high flying. In 2k22 it all felt the same and it became pointless to try. It was just about winning, like they wanted to make a fighting game rather than a wrestling game. The fighting stances and combos also made it feel like that.

Like you say, simulation is the way forward. From Smackdown! onward every game was more and more simulation than the last. HCTP was more than SYM (most arcade fans praise it for this, ironically), SvR was more than HCTP, SvR ‘06 was more than SvR, SvR ‘07 was more than SvR’06….you get the picture. Then people complained and we started moving backward with 2k22. I hope we can start moving forward again soon.

I still play 2k19 and haven't had a reason to buy any of the new editions. I did play 2k22 and got all the dlc when it came to PS Premium. Feels like a stripped down version of the older games. With all the roster changes and sadly some wrestlers who have passed away, it might be the last wrestling game I buy. I've bought most of them through the years and kept the ones I like and sold the ones I can live without. I have 2k14, which I consider to be the best in the series, 2k17 and 2k19. I was fortunate to create and download a lot of created wrestlers. I feel like it's a treasure trove of stars not including wrestlers.

I think I'm good on wrestling games for the time being. Most of the new stars now are for a younger generation. I have a roster full of my favorite era including the Attitude and WCW days of NWO and Goldberg. When I play them, it reminds me when I was a kid playing toys and having them fight. Now I just do it digitally in a video game WWE style.

I really don't know what could get me to buy a new wrestling game to be perfectly honest. I put so much time in creating wrestlers for these games 2k17 and 19, there's no way I can put that amount in new games especially if they go offline in a year.

Excellent video! couldn't agree more. I stopped playing WWE 2K24 and went back to 2K19 (w/ mods) because of it's gameplay and universe mode

I will always be grateful for 2K 19 it was my first wrestling game on the Xbox One this game put 2K 20 on its back and carried us all the way to 2K 22 this game will forever hold a special place in my heart

I always thought the ability to do a squash match if you attacked you’re opponent right after the bell was cool

God I still pray that one day the 2K19 servers would reopen so I could feel like a *GOD* again. Although I already feel bad enough that I didn’t play it online until the final 5 months, but I am glad to say though that playing it offline for so long helped me so much to train for those online matches and becoming one of the hottest 2K19 performers ever to never win a League Championship (post Styles Tower thing where you coulda won a million dollars). But honestly I still play 2K19 though for the created AEW wrestlers that never made it to the initial Fight Forever roster. But like I still yearn for the days of kicking absolute ass but at the same time having so much fun (especially with the Steel Cage matches that me and my then-friend did). Also to be honest this is practically the reason why I haven’t touched a 2K game since. I don’t care about 2K20, 2K22 or 2K23 and so on. You’ll never convince me that those games take as much skill and are as much fun as 2K19 was (and I was playing WWE games since SVR 2006). As of now though until the 2K19 servers are ever reopened (a man can dream), I am sticking with Fight Forever through and through. Thank you.

Another thing I missed on 2k19 is breaking the barricades.

My wishlist for 2k24 :

☆irish whip button
☆2k19 stamina system
☆Tired finishers
☆selling hurt body parts (like in dor and the n64 games. Favoring your injured head, leg, arm, or torso throughout the entire match)
☆the option to play music during gameplay (i miss the old bgm soundtracks like in hctp, no mercy, dor etc )
☆create a story

The game with the fake $1, 000, 000 sweepstakes where you had to beat matches on the hardest difficulty, then the "finals" was between two obvious company employees

I liked 2k19 a lot better than 2k22 and 2k23.

The universe mode in my opinion makes it the best because we had promos, goals to set for every wrestler involving rivalry’s betrayal you could do it all if they could bring that back improved.
I believe we’d have a history making game on our hands

I liked 2k19, but the gameplay was definitely hard to get a grasp on if you don't dedicate time to it. Also the submission minigame was just a huge pain in the ass to get good at.
